Christine Cavanaugh (1963-2014)

Christine Cavanaugh, a prolific voice actor and the voice of the Disney Channel from 1988-1994, passed away at her home on December 22 at the age of 51.

For Disney, Ms. Cavanaugh was the voice of Gosalyn Waddlemeyer-Mallard, the adopted daughter of Drake Mallard, aka “Darkwing Duck”. She later was the voices of Wizzer and Dumpling in 101 Dalmatians: The Series. She also voiced guest roles on Aladdin, Hercules, Recess, The Weekenders and Raw Toonage (again as Gosalyn), as well as appearing in the short film Recycle Rex.

Her only voice role in a Disney animated film was in the live-action/animated combo Belle’s Tales of Friendship. In this film, which contained scenes from the series Sing Me A Story with Belle, a live-action Belle recounts animated stories to children visiting her bookstore, which is also home to several puppets: a cat, a book, and two “bookworms” named Lewis (on the left) and Carroll (green, on the right). Ms. Cavanaugh voiced Carroll, although she was not her puppeteer.

Although she had retired from acting in 2001, Ms. Cavanaugh wlll live on in the hearts of Disney fans forever.BellesTalesOfFriendship-LewisCarroll
