Disney added a sequence containing the song ‘Human Again’, written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman for the original movie, but later cut.  It debuted in the Broadway version of the movie to great success which encouraged the filmmakers to put it back in the movie into the Special Edition. In addition, as the Special Edition appeared on IMAX screens, lines were cleaned up and some backgrounds were changed for continuity to work after the new sequence.
