This week, a number of releases through Amazon.com (for which The Completist Geek receives a small referral fee). The most exciting is the 4-CD Fantasia soundtrack. It includes the original 1940 soundtrack (remastered, ‘natch!) as well as the 1984 re-recording under the direction of Disney musical mastermind Irwin Kostal. As well, new to public release (unless you found them at Wal-Mart before Christmas) are the previously-only-available-at-Disney-Movie-Club releases of Tale Spin, Goof Troop, Gargoyles, DuckTales: The Movie – Treasure of the Lost Lamp, & The Incredible Journey. Add some Disney Infinity 2.0 power discs and a huge handful of Disney-era Miramax movies, and it’s an excellent week for Disney releases. See them all after the link. Final 2014 Box Office Numbers
Disney fared very well at the 2014 Box Office. With the #1 film, a box office surprise in Guardians of the Galaxy, Disney had a great year. Marvel had that and Captain America in #3 and Big Hero 6 (sort of) in #9 and still playing. Disney Studios had #6 with Maleficent, and Disney characters appeared in both #4 The Lego Movie and #7 X-Men: Days of Future Past. 28 films in total have a piece of Disney in them, with a total of $2.183 Billion dollars take at the box (again, not all of that goes into Disney’s pockets). However, it was a very good year.

Other Disney films still playing include Big Hero 6, which is still in the Top 10 and just broke $200M, and a little film called Guardians of the Galaxy which is still playing in week 22 of its release.

January 6, 2015 Releases
Not sure why The Lego Movie is coming to Blu-Ray again, but it will always be included here for it’s Disney camoes (which I won’t spoil here if you haven’t seen it). Jake and the Never Land Pirates is a solid show for your young ones.
New Cinderella (2015) Trailer!
2015 brings us a number of new Disney films. We’ve just seen “Into the Woods”, with Cinderella and her Prince as main characters, as well as her stepsisters and step mother. On March 13th, we will be treated to another cinematic version of the Cinderella story, this time without Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack (of beanstalk fame) as supporting characters.
Last night, to ring in the new year, Disney released new footage of the upcoming film. Click on the link to check them out!
